Hello fellow saltwater fans. :-)

I have a question for you more experienced individuals. I always QT my fish now and regardless of how they look, I leave them in there for a pretty standard time frame. But my question is....if a fish has picked up ich from a LFS, how long after bringing a fish home would it take for the ich to present itself in a visible fashion? I am asking as I tend to TTM fish with Ich but I never know how long it takes to get past the infected phase to the visible phase.

They may never show visible signs of having ich

Ich at some point goes through the cyst phase does it not? Especially on a weakened host. If it can be non-visible, how do you know if you need to treat it or not.

4-6 weeks it should be visible unless all of it is in gills and not on or under skin.

As a general rule, IME, latent problems tend to turn up in the second week, as the fish relaxes and has what you might call an adrenaline-letdown.

Yes, but the cyst aren't always visible. Sometimes they're buried deep in the fishes gills and you don't see it.
