Got the green light to upgrade my 75. Woo Hoo! Finally a 6 foot tank. But I need to keep the width to 18" and the height to 24". That makes a 150gal (wanted 180, but going wider would be "unpopular").
I'll build my own stand, but I have no clue where to find the tank itself. I want 2 overflows, and will use a herbie at each end. I live between Sacramento and San Francisco so a Northen California source would be appreciated. Timeline is likely Fall. I'm hoping for a budget of about $2,000?

The 150 is higher than 24".

According to the Aqueon and Marineland specs - a 150 is almost 30" high.

Why the height limit?

Crystal dynamics make some nice tanks.
Personally i'd go deeper front to back. I can't stand 'skinny' tanks due to limited aquascaping/turn around space.

Right, so I WANT 24" width, but 18-20" is all that's gonna work. And I've found that the 24" depth of my 75 is as deep as I'm willing to go for maintenance reasons. Technically, 20" wide (back to front) is a 150, and 18" is 135. Either is fine.
Any recommendations for my area that can save me the shipping cost?

So I called CD, based in Oceanside. I can get predrilled (4, 1" holes) in a single, middle overflow with the dimensions I want for $2,250 + tax. That would be starfire on 3 sides and black in back. Also, they will deliver to my house for a flat rate of $175. She said build times were currently 8-10 weeks, and the Northern California truck runs about every 6 weeks or so.
Any reason to keep looking? This sounds perfect, provided there aren't some unhappy customers that want to chime in.

A few weeks back we had a tank failure, and we recently got our new replacement tank in. It was from Planet Aquariums, sold through a lfs. Well made tank. I didn't get rimless, but even with a rim and end braces, it looks great. Built like a tank too.
