View Full Version : T5 Fixure question
I'm thinking of supplementing my LED lights with T5. Can I just buy a one of the T5 grow light fixtures from Amazon for $70 and then just throw a reef specific blub in it?

Sure, it'd probably just put out less PAR, but if you aren't looking to use it for PAR value, then I wouldn't see a problem.
it's just to add more daylight in the middle of the day for the SPS, I'm looking to get faster growth.

The reflectors are usually not that good with the grow fixtures. Also, a retrofit kit isn't much more and you get a quality ballast and great reflectors.

I used the LET retro from BRS. They use the same ballasts and reflectors that ATI use and are easy to install. If you want something that is a bit more finished looking then look at the Hamilton or Geisemann retros.
