Hi, i currently have a powder blue in quarantine in a 40g. I purshased him on Feb. 3 so he has been with me for just over 3 weeks and doing very well eating like a pig. After 2 weeks he started showing signs of ich so i added nls ich shield powder and after about 4-5 days everything cleared. I will continue the treatment for the full 21 days.

My question is once the pb tang graduates to my dt can i just do a large water change and add cooper to remove the balace of the meds and then add a new fish using the same filter media? Or should i restart, clean everything and add new media?

It's always best to clean the tank out if you can. I wouldn't risk it, even more so since you know there was a parasite in the tank..

It's really up to you. If the meds cleared the fish of parasites, then it cleared the tank as well. If it didn't then your PB is still infected. Frankly, 3-4 weeks is insufficient QT time anyhow and I would let the PB stay in QT un-medicated for a few weeks longer just to ensure the problems don't return. Once your sure it's clean, and it goes into your display, then reusing the QT for a subsequent tenant isn't much of a risk - I've done it many dozens of times. If a fish dies in QT, then I always completely empty, clean and dry the tank before reusing.

You could leave the tank without fish for 12 weeks as well to make sure the ich parasite is gone. (that is what I do)
