Hey Everyone - Have been out of the hobby since college and looking to get back in. When I left LED lighting was really expensive. Looks like costs have come down over the years. Really liking the way the new Red Sea systems look and I am thinking about getting the Reefer 250 and just trying to put together a proper equipment list before jumping in.

Will two AI Prime HD lights be sufficient on a Red Sea Reefer 250. Not looking at any SPS corals, just mostly a Zoa's and a soft coral tank with TBS live rock.

Thanks!

I asked my LFS about the AI Hydra 26's over the Reefer 250 and they suggested the AI Prime HD instead as the 26's would be over kill.

Looking at a two light setup btw.

If all you are ever going to have is zoas n softies then 2 Primes should be fine. But I would suggest going with the Hydras and turn them down. You can always reduce light output but 100% is 100%. You can't make the Primes make more light without buying another unit.

I agree. If you're only doing zoas and softies then you can get away with two AI Prime HD's. However if you're planning on a mixed reef, then without a doubt Hydra 26HD's.

I run a single Hydra 26HD on my Reefer 170. I'm SPS Dominant and I'll Forsure be adding another once my tank starts filling up with SPS.
