Hi all, I bought this coral Saturday because I thought it was cool and assumed it was an Acan, but I cant be sure. I had just fed it a couple of pellets before I took the picture. Any help would be appreciated.

Tough to tell from the picture, but I am going to say it is a type of favia

Acans have separate heads.. Favia does not..
Its favia IMO..

Medium-lowish light/moderate flow..

Thanks guys...I'll be researching Favia Corals going forward. Probably should have asked at my LFS huh?

IMO.. best to learn BEFORE you hit up the LFS.. Many are simply not able to provide proper information based on lack of training,etc..

Know what you are doing before you go into one IMO...

I'd suggest starting here..

Plenty of "generic" information to get you started on all the types of corals,etc..
Then go beyond that and learn some more..

I agree totally, I went in for some supplies, and bought some Acan frags, saw that Favia and loved it so I got that too....Thanks for the input!

feeding coral pellets? explain.

place pellet near mouth.. coral eats it..
Nothing new there.. If it fits in their mouth they can/will eat it..

Pretty easy coral imo. Make sure your alk/ca/mag levels are good with moderate flow/light and you are good to go. No need to spot feed.
