I currently keep my tank at a constant 78. I have been considering dropping to 76 to see if it could possibly help with cyanobacteria. It is a mixed reef, would their be any benefits in this case?

I don't use a heater or chiller but live in south Florida so if I'm comfy the tank should be

Have a our tested your phosphate levels?

I have tested phosphate levels.

Temp-78
SG- 1.025
PO4- .005
Cal-400
Alk-10
Ph-8.2
Mag-1350

The phosphates are a little higher than I would like along with the alkalinity. All test are using seachem test kits. I am running a BRS reactor with rowas in it. I can't seem to get the alkalinity or phosphates to come down anymore. I'm using ro water from a local machine at a big box store.

Temp 78 80, had a small amount of cyno about a month ago I manually removed it with the small end of the tank cleaning hose haven't had a problem since

I manually remove it but it comes back within a day or two. Each time it seems to appear in different places although in a smaller amount. I'm just trying to figure out how to get it to stop coming back.

76-84

Being that I just switched from MH to LED's at the beginning of the year the temperature might not get that high this summer though. Will see.

84 definitely seems a little high to me.

78 - 82

Temp won't impact cyano. Excess nutrients and flow will, IMO. Factually, we're not sure what causes it to bloom in an aquarium. I've seen people with little to no nutrients and super high flow have cyano, and I've seen people on the opposite end having cyano. It might be a bacterial imbalance, but that's complicated to measure, test for, and explain.

If you have cyano, I'd work on lowering nutrients, as well as possibly dosing a supplemental bacteria such as Microbacter7 or Prodibio's bacteria supplement.

My tank is set via reefkeeper at 76.5 with hysterix set at .5 so never below 76 and I have yet to see it above 77...as for cyano it is clearly bacterial issue..I would assume much like ourselves higher Temps would effect the growth rates of the bacteria.,.but I have no idea...I do know that lower temps will keep more oxygen in the water...I also believe your sg will effect how bacteria grows in your tank...I keep mine at 1.026

This nano I have now is the only tank I've owned that hasn't had a cyano outbreak in. It's a bare bottom with a lot of flow. I always got cyano on my sand and never the rock.

Last tank had it across the entire front zone of sand for a few weeks until I did a two day lights out on it. Then it never had it again. I vacuumed the sand weekly and had a lot of crabs moving around too.

I had an algae problem a couple of months back and came to the decision it was using "R/O" water from our local grocery store. I've since been using lfs water and added Rowa and problem solved. If I was you I would do weekly water changes of about 5 gallons and the problem will solve it's self. Small amounts of food 2-3 times a week at the most and lower your light intensity. Just my two cents... good luck

77, all livestock and corals are happy and algae is minimal.
