Hey all, put up my 75g predrilled corner-flo /w sump...but the tank is really loud. Not the pump, but the water moving through the sump and plumbing. Pump possibly too strong?

Is there a step-by-step guide on reducing sump noise? It sounds like I have a river in my family room.

Im not aware of a step by step but I'm sure there are lots of threads on the subject to search for. Usually plumbing noise is too much flow and trapped air in the drain pipes. A good durso stand pipe should have a way to fine tune the trapped air passing thru. There's a sweet spot you're looking for. If you're drain will handle 600 gph and you're trying to push 800 gph through it then it's going to make a lot of noise. A durso can be fine tuned to be very quiet but many people have no patience for that kind of stuff and will tell you that it's not possible.
You need to know:
what size are your drain pipe or pipes
what pump your using and what is the approximate headloss in your situation
how much flow thru the drains
locate air adustment of modify to create them
consider other modifications if necessary.

A diagram of your plumbing would help with pipe sizes and valve locations (if any).

Tank is 75g
What gph is the pump?
Sounds like too much flow.

Following along i am having the same issue with mine. My return pump is a vectra M1 tank is a 180 reef ready aqueon and it made a funny burb sound on the left side drain and the drain durso pipe came out of the bulkhead and that is when I heard really loud water inside the overflow box.

Durso drains have far less capacity than advertised - at least, if you want something close to quiet operation. Much past 300 gph, a typical 1" durso will start to 'flush' which will manifest with varying water levels in the overflow chamber and periodic rushes of water through the drain.
