Hi guys

I've finally managed to get a shot of this little guy, he looks like a fairly harmless bristle worm but wanted others opinion to be sure. Thank you!

If it was in my tank, I'd take it out right out away. Just to be safe, that's me.

Definitely a bristle and beneficial to the overall balance of a reef.

What are the pros and cons of having bristle worms?

They are probably the best detrivores, and if you see one, you have 100.

There's lots of benefits; they act very similarly to how earth worms enhance the quality of planting soil.

As far as drawbacks,

1. If you overfeed, their population will likely explode (due to more available nutrients) and they can get big. Historically if I have ones that grow more than a few inches long, I remove them if I can.

2. If you accidentally touch them, they can sting. So just be careful if handling live rock.

I just refilled my 150 gallon tank. Nearly all of the bristle worms that were in the liverock came out, and most died. There were some huge ones and lots of them. I'll take a few small ones here and there but I had way too many
