Does anyone know of any vertical containers that would fit in this spot?

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170306/ca311f6fcf9ed67323088df71ea4b7b5.jpg

Max width is about 10" and it's a 40B sump, so around 18" wide, but can be longer.

Or

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170306/eb44f1204da096f90738cf2ed3889184.jpg

If anyone knows of any low profile containers, but I only have about 3.5" of height to work with there.

Those just seemed like the best options for me with the vertical rectangular container being the better choice.

I would like the container to be around 10 gallons if possible.

Let me know if anyone has seen anything like this online or in local stores.

Thank you!

I use a Rubbermaid brute slimjim that looks like it would fit that spot. It's 23 gallons. I don't have the dimensions on me sorry. If you look on line I'm not sure if it's for the base or the top that is a little bigger. Plus the center bulges a bit. I can get measurements tonight.

Go to ebay and type in ATO containers. I don't know if you have a budget or not. Couple of those vendors up there can special make you one also.

Thank you guys, I will look into those, that blue container looks about perfect. I wish I could fit in my brute trashcan like you can, lol.

I didn't see that lid though, do you know what they call the lid?

Yep.. Plenty of "tall" plastic garbage cans look like they would fit just fine there..

I've use "Sterlite" brand or similar cheap containers for ATO tanks for years now without issue..

I'll look into those as well. At first I was kind of against getting a trashcan because I didn't want it to look "trashy" 😂 but those slim jims look pretty good, but I'm sure the lid is going to cost about as much as the trash can itself.

Yep.. Looks like the cans are ~$44-$50 and lid is ~$38 or so..
Ouch..

How many gallons are you trying to hold? Pet food containers would easily fit in that space.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00186O0SS/ref=twister_B01NH2VL7T?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

7 gallons or so and only 11 bucks

That looks pretty good as well. I was shooting for around 10 gallons, it would be nice to not have to fill it all the time.

Either way though, that's super cheap and only a few gallons shy of what I was after. It's ashame the 22 pound one is just a tad to wide, that would be awesome. Maybe I'll still get that one and find a way to make it work.

I bought the food storage containers, I got one in all black, maybe that will keep algae out.

Thank you very much!

how many gallons is your display tank? My total tank volume with display and sump is probably around the 160ish gallon range. my ATO is 7 gallons I believe. if I fill it up it last about a week or 2. So 7 gallons might be fine.

My tank is a 150 plus a 40B for a sump probably around 170 gallons total, but I also have a 40B with a 10 gallon sump, that uses about a 5 gallon bucket a week. I live in Florida and the AC is always on, so it seems to evaporate quickly.

I'm jealous. I have a 155 gal and my 16 gallon reservoir has to be filled about every 8 days in the winter and every 10-12 in the summer.

I agree. I'm suspecting mine will be similar since there's a lot more surface area then my 40B.

Florida isn't the best place for a reef aquarium, haha.

Pet food container on my 150gal, holds about 7-8 gallons of rodi and last me a week. I'd like something nicer but this was quick and easy and found free in my garage ;)

Your stand must be packed if you can't fit that in there, it looks so tiny compared to everything, haha.

Unfortunately yes it is :( I ordered the SCA 150 PNP system from scaquariums.com. I love the tank and stand, however the sump they send with it is MASSIVE. I do enjoy all the space in it but have had issues finding space for the Rodi storage and controllers. I've heard steve at SCA will downsize the sumps in the PNP systems for free if you contact him beforehand, I probably would of had i known it'd fill the whole stand.

I understand saving a buck, but I think that pet food container served a more noble purpose.

Okay, will do! Only about an hour away, lol.

Any tips? I know you look at a lot, but do you end up spending a lot of money and stuff? Lol.

I have already started saving for it! I normally spend a decent amount. They normally have stuff you just don't see at your local fish store and normally good deals. You could go with 100 bucks to spend on frags and leave happy though. plenty of people have 5,10, buck frags. I got some nicer acans and a chalice last year for like 20 bucks a frag. Telling you its worth the trip even if its just to look at the stuff. bring an insulated bag/cooler to bring them back with you as well.

I never really spent much time looking at equipment all that much but they usually have show specials so ya they have deals most of the time. The majority of the deals and stuff there is coral though.
