View Full Version : How To Attach Optical Level Sensor to Tank???

I received my FMM, PMUP, and an optical level sensor. However, I can't figure out how to connect the optical level sensor to the tank. I wish the ATO unit was available, but I need to do something until they put that out. Any suggestions???

Thanks ;-)

i attach float sensors using the tunze magnet for their ATO maybe you can modify it to attach it on there ?

If you get me some additional pictures and measurements of the threading on the optical sensor I can mock something up and try 3D printing some brackets in ABS that might work?

I threw together a quick mockup for the optical sensors: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2163598

I've used something similar in the past for float switches: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2163604

The optical sensors fit in a 15mm (19/32") hole

I took the float valve out of this guy and the optical sensor fit perfectly in the hole:

Cleaner that a previous DIY job I had built.

Nice builds!

I'd be interested in a holder that shielded the sensor to prevent algae growing on it, as well as prevented critters from crawling across it.

I'll see about mocking something up in the near future

I'll be following. I have one in the mail. I was thinking I would try to heat and bend some acrylic I have from my current build.

Are they suppose to be mounting vertical (optical up) or horizontal. My tunze smart nano is mounted horizontally.

The sensors are suppose to be mounted Horizontal

I'm looking for a bracket also

Follow my the link posted by me to my DIY solution [there's a picture in the thread]; it works perfectly for my float switches and GHL makes an angled fastener for the optical sensors. Should work the same. Even if the hole needs to be widened, a step drillbit will make short work of that.

... or, Neptune Systems could offer a freakin' solution already! JUST SAYIN' ...

They just released the atk to their beta testers so it should be coming soon.
