I've had my Algae scrubber up and running for about two years now. I love it and it works great I'm taking a couple cups of algae off it every week. I've been having some problems with my corals over the last few months and I am told that my nutrients are too low and that I should start dosing nitrate. Should I take my scrubber off-line to try to keep some more nutrients in the water column? Has anyone else had negative effects from having a scrubber?

No, but if you feel that your scrubber is pulling too much, you can back off on your lighting time. Cut the time in half, and it will affect its growth, hence affect how much nutrients it will pull from the water.

Agreed with wildman - DO NOT dose nitrate. Everything is there, just over absorbing the good stuff. Cut down on the lights and see how things go.
