I have been using the radion AB+ setting but am wondering how representative it is of the original AB+ setting which was formed with the radion gen 3 pros. Since the gen 4 pros have different leds/channels what tweaks could be made to better mimic the original AB+ settings? In a recent video from mrsaltwatertank he reported using the AB+ setting but I noticed he had the violet and warm white channels turned off. Would this provide a better replication of the original AB+?

If that's the case why spend the extra money on pro version?

Right. Obviously it depends on what u want out of your lights. In my case I already own the gen 4 pros.

Same here. Lol. SPS AB+ looks too blue with the G4s

Add a little more white channel. Fixed.

Maybe to the eye. Not sure the coral sees it that way. The point of the study that developed the AB+ setting was to improve/maximize coral health, coloration and growth. Not to simply find the color of light most pleasing to the observer

Yes, I know exactly what the study was for. :)
The way I see it is all the same colors are still there.
I just ADD a little extra white for part of the day.

Also, I think a big part of their success is the due to the hanging height, which helps minimize shadowing issues, which is the biggest problem with LED, not the spectrum.

My point is, the colors are different. Different leds and channels

Hard to see why one would run these without the extra channels. Maybe in the demo, he didn't have an updated WXM.

I run the SPS AB+ on G4 and it looks great, the new LED's just give a broader spectrum on the lower end with the violet and better warm white colors. imo the G4 is a better AB+ representation since it has more range in the spectrum.

I just picked 2 radion G4 pro to add to my 2 G3 pro and was wondering what intensity you guys run the violet and warm white channels with the sps Ab+ schedule?

I have a 6 foot 180g tank and was going to put the G4 on the outsides and the G3 on the inside as I have a center brace on the tank.

Also adding 2 T5 bulbs on the front and on on the back to help with light in middle.

if youve only just added the gen 4s id hold of on the t5 you will not need them, the gen 4 are awsome and lightyears in front of the gen3

Only 2 of them adding to the 2 gen 3 pro I have already. I ran 4 on the tank but started a 120g so moving 2 gen 3 pro over to 120g and bought the gen 4 to replace them. So what is edited version of sps Ab+ for the gen 4? Probably everything the same and what do you run the new channels on for intensity?

I have 2 Gen4 Pro on my SPS/LPS tank (900L) for the past half year and they seem to work really well. I'm running the SPS AB+ for 12hrs at 80% max (which isactually 56%). The issue I'm having is with the moon light and lunar phases. After night mode starts, it's totally dark.
What would be the correct way to set up moonlights for at least part of the night (til 1AM for example)?

How are you controlling them? Ecotech Live or Apex?
If Apex, please post your program.

No problem. Unfortunately, even though I have (3) XP30 G4 Pro's and (1) XP15 G4 Pro, I won't be of much help, mine are all Apex controlled.

Maybe I'm not understanding your question, but you would just add another point or two of just royal blue at like 10% from the end of your current schedule until 1am.

That's what I'm thinking, but is there any particular strength amount?

Like I said, 10% or so. No more. You can try less. You might have issues trying to go less than 5%. Make sure the lights are calibrated. Moonlight doesn't really do anything so it doesn't matter. It's just personal preference.
But yes, the way you did it is correct.

EDIT: Make sure the first point at your start of moonlight is nothing but RB. So you might want to add another point right after the green one in that pic that is just RB. Or drop a point on the graph right before it, leave it as is, and change the green one to just RB.

So then I would add a point at 22:05 with 100% Royal Blue @ 10% output and then at 1AM also set it at 100% RB @ 10%? So then between 10PM-1AM its only RB

I noticed your remark about 80%, but actually 56%. I was always wondering about that. It is confusing. Why have two numbers? What does it mean?

^He is running them @ 80% of max power but since he has his individual leds adjusted to give him a specific color spectrum he wants it is really only @ 56% of maximum intensity.

So if you had all channels at full % spectrum and then ran it at 100% of power you would be at 100% intensity but no one does that.

Since the poster you are referring to is not running all of the sliders at max % when he sets power to 80% it is really only 56% of the total intensity since his sliders for each individual color have been adjusted.

Ok, that makes more sense. Thank you for the clarification.

I heard several people saying that they run their Radions at 75-80% SPS AB+. So they are talking 75-80% max (meaning actual intensity of 53-56%), right?

I am not sure on the exact intensity....

I have a XR15G4 Pro on my 25G lagoon tank and it is hanging 14" above the water and I run mine on a modified AB+ @ 100% power.... I modified the white channels and reduced them some as my small tank is only 11" deep and i like the bluer look actually.

Interesting ....

Based on your numbers, I might be too low on intensity for my tank at 75%. I got 80 gal RedSea Reefer 350 with two XP30 G4 Pros at 9 inches above the water.

I am trying to grow SPS specially acros.

How deep is your tank? SPS like bright light but still these LED's can burn everything if too bright. How are your colors currently? Any issues?

My tank is 22 inches deep. I just switched from a smaller 60 gal tank where I could not keep acro with color. Most of them turned brown.

I have had the new tank for 4 weeks. Colors, that I have not seen for months, are coming back. I started at 50% and are now at 55%. I see no burned tips. I plan to go up to 75% over the next 4 weeks.

This thread motivated me to get a PAR meter (Seneye Reef) and actually measure my tank with 2x Radion G4 Pro with Diffusers at 55% on AB+

I think I should increase to 75% soon.

How difficult would be for you to measure the same, but without the diffusers? I was always wondering how much did the diffuser "cost" in PAR.

I hope to have something by Friday, but it's definitely on my radar.
