Hi everyone, looking for some help. About a month ago this rusty brown algae started to show up. I think it's diatoms but am looking for confirmation and advice about how to get rid of them. Nitrates and phosphates are both undetectable (salifert and Hanna).
The algae blows of easily with a baster, and doesn't really seem matty like cyano. There are loads of air bubbles too, but it isn't snotty like Dino's. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170313/800f33990152f3895c03d1f025747bec.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170313/f103591cb7c5f27552943f50749f1fa7.jpg
Thanks in advance.

It looks a lot like Dino. But your saying its not stringy and snotty?

Let the LFS test your water to make sure they get the same result.

Old bulbs? Maybe try running some chemipure and up your water change routine

looks and sounds like dinos - there are many species of dinos and they exhibit differently.

check the dino thread

Thanks for the quick replies. It is staying very close to the rocks and sand, not stretching out and looking all stringy like the Dino's I've had in the past. I'll check that Dino thread out. Thanks.

Jeff. Dino X from Fauna will help you deal it. It deals with all algae except cyano. Had the same problem in the reefer. Dino X got rid of it.
