View Full Version : Toki's 180G Build

Well.... I have played in tanks for many years and since my 225 blowup back in '09 I decided to do another big tank!

Purchased a drilled 180g with tank, stand, canopy, 75g sump, ---- skimmer with pump, and a mag return pump... for a measly $250!!! :bounce2:

SOOO with this deal I couldn't say no... and have to add another tank to the family (thank god the lady doesn't mind too much her only requirement is a bubble coral and blonde naso).

without further ado here it is. Will be taking more pics tonight for yall!

Definitely going to have to do some hella cleaning this week....

Going to be rocking 3 165w Chinese black boxes (because I ain't rich like y'all out there) *from Alabama excuse my language lol*
hard plumb everything, have an in-sump refugium, and try to stay clear of anything that is going to be to complicated. will be looking into ATO container and already have dosing pump and containers on the way along with the sand and salt. Already have 200lbs of rock getting ready.

anyone have any suggestions on moving forward something they regretted not doing?

nice collection of Antique electronics. Atari 2600, maybe an Apple IIe. is there a Commodore 64 and a Colecovision in there?

Good eye! Also have macintosh, the sought after LISA, and just about every apple computer in between. Along with a bunch of antique pong systems still in the box and every game system since the Atari 2600.

Came home to the tank off the stand (the lady and a friend did it :) which is nice) so I can start plumbing.

Got the sump sterilized (it's so ugly) along with the skimmer. Started mapping out my plumbing. Didn't want to use any 90s just for looking neat. Wanted as many 45s as I could for max flow! Dry plumbed. Will seal tomorrow and get pipe hooks.

What y'all think? Any suggestions before I deal it up and get the tank back on? (I know the return is the only thing plumbed right now lol)

Just a little update finalized the hard plumbing for the return and have a closed ball valve for a reactor if I decide got heaters (not on) with controller hooked up. Have a 10gal tank for auto top off and it setup installed water proof power strip. Going to have to do something different about the cords.... organization isn't my best quality lol.

ok well update... I snapped a pipe in a bulk head...........

Guess I don't know my own strength :lolspin:

so now I have to wait for a new bulkhead to come in which should be today and I should be able to start filling the tank up

So after having to deal with my center brace blowing out and having to drain my tank down 50% and pouring more water in I was able to build a bracket of aluminum and resilicone the bracer back in. And now we are finally up and running!
