I'm assuming this is a bottom corner?
Looks too big to trust.

I'd chuck it. Silicone won't do anything as the structual strength of the glass has been weakened. I had a small qt tank with a way smaller nick out of the corner than you have and it ended up splitting the entire pane starting where that chip was about a year later. Lucky I was home when it happened.

If you live in a warmer climate and don't mind risking getting your backyard a little wet, I would say leak test it outside for a week. Also, if the tank is acrylic, the glob of silicone will not last very long. The bond of silicone to acrylic is not very good.

Cut out all the silicone, cut a few new strips and glue them back into place in the section of the chip, and it will be fine

Petco $1/g sale makes even thinking about using it difficult for me.
And, in addition to my sleep, I cherish my happy relationship with my wife way too much to chance that one.
