View Full Version : Xenia question

I have had my Xenia for a few years now. Today I am noticing something I have not before. They all still look healthy, but they have these small white balls inside the flesh. All the way up the tentacle and in the main body. The little white 'balls', appear to be traveling inside the flesh. Anyone seen this before, if so, what are they doing?

They seem to move out to the end of the 'fingers' or 'tentacles'. You can see white 'balls' at the ends.

Ah, I didnt realize google photos had to be shared. I am new at posting pics. See if that works now? If not, anyone give me some suggestions as where to host pics so that people can view them easy?

Xenia indeed is fun to watch, cheap and grows fast. Be careful with it. It became an infestation in my tank. Was like a weed and I had to take the rock out and clean and put back. Just try and keep it on one rock that's not touching any others

The white balls will turn into new branches or the existing branch will droop down onto the rock. This will be a new anchor and will continue to grow up towards the light. Thus propagating...

Thats what I was afraid of. I have had Xenia in the tank for 2 1/2 years, so far have it only on 1 original frag plug, 1 stalk on 1 piece of rock and on the glass. Hopefully this will continue to be the same.
