Whoever owns either of them, how long did it take for them to grow more? I have had my frogspawn since last August/September and I just recently got my candy cane last Saturday. I am running 2 T5 lights (ATI AquaBlue Special and Blue+) both at 24W.

For me, candy cane had been a way faster grower than Frogspawn.
Frogspawn has grown slowly and has not shown much response to feeding.
On the contrary, candy cane loves feeding. Their feeders come out at night. I spot feed reef chilli at night. Initially you will notice that the candy cane poly get bigger and puffed up and then they start dividing soon.

Thanks, I do have coral frenzy but I have also looked into reef chilli as well. I noticed that my candy cane was already puffed up like crazy after i bought it.

neither of those are SPS, so maybe if you can ask someone to move it in the LPS section they could be more help :)

But one suggestion I have is to get ALOT more light, only 2 t5s is barely any light. Most people here run at least 6 T5s

I don't even know why I put it in the SPS forum lol im still half awake at work. Currently my tank is only 18 inches deep with a 2 inch sandbed. My candy cane is up high in my rock work and my frogspawn is on the sandbed, but I havent noticed anything bad regarding the light. Last night my candy cane were puffed up like melons lol my wattage went from 17W to 48W last June.

My frogspawn is a weed in my tank. I have it under 400w radiums.

I split the seem on my old tank and when I switched tanks I had to break it in half so it would fit between the braces. When i picked it up (2.5 years ago) it had 15 heads or so, now its probably 150. I have even given away a bunch of it.

Candy cane really fast. I target feed twice a week.

Thanks. I don't know why I even said frogspawn even though I have a hammer coral lol, I think it's because I had it on my mind on buying one. But I have heard that some people like to feed them once to twice a week and others don't bother feeding them since they feed off the algae in their bodies and light.

I feed my frogspawn every other day.

Have you seen a huge growth impact by feeding them constantly?

Candycanes and branching hammers definitely grow quickly, IME. It looks you have a wall hammer though. Not sure on the growth of those, but assume it would be quick like its cousins. Even with the (not so bright) lights you have, I would keep the hammer on the sand. They are very prone to damage, and they can get infections easily.

Yea I don't plan on moving it from my sand.
