Hello,

I'm hoping for some confirmation on whether or not it's feasible to add any sort of reef-safe wrasse to a 21 gallon (20x20x12) tank with 1 other fish (mandarin). I did this once in the past with a small clown fairy wrasse, and he thrived for months with no issues that I could see, but I know the general rule says not to put a wrasse in a tank so small. If I get one small, can I keep it in there until I notice it has issues due to tank size restrictions? Ideally I'd like to get another clown fairy wrasse, but I'd love to hear if anyone knows of a reef-safe wrasse that would thrive in such a small tank.

Thanks,

Ben

The only species suitable of those of the Wetmorella genus or Pseudocheilinops ataenia.

Any of the Cirrhilabrus or Paracheilinus species will get too big.
The Wetmorellas and ataenias are a lot of fun to watch and fairly easy to keep.

Thank you both for the detailed answers. I will resist the urge and choose one of those you mentioned if I go with a wrasse
