I am planning my build for my 210 60x30x27 SPS reef.
For the return I am planning on using the reef octopus varios 8.
I don't know if I am going to need 2 or 4 MP40QD. I am looking for good random flow and would like to run the Mp40s on a lower setting if need be so I don't blast the corals to much.
With the 30 in depth front to back I don't know if 2 will give me enough flow. For the aquascape I am planning on two islands and then the center trapezoid ovwrflow.
Let me know what you think

well to put it insanely simple... start off with 2 mp40s on the sides. once the tanks matures and corals are growing well. add 2 more mp40s on the back of tank and your done.

with a full blown SPS tank. your gonna NEED to run 4 of them for sure.... when i read SPS tank. i assume the person is going full blown SPS corals. if you want your tank full of pretty sticks. your ultimate combo would be 2 mp60s on the sides and the 2 mp40s on the back wall...

Agree For SPS I would do two 40's for now then later move them to the back and add a couple 60's.

I have 4x40's in my 150 deep dimension (36x36) and feel it is barely enough. I don't think they reach beyond about 24" in my tank, though they pushed about 36" when I had one in a 75. I'm pretty sure it's because the 75 was fairly narrow and directed the flow.
