I have a 30g JBJ AIO and its been up and running for 4 months now. The filtration is behind the tank and has two return pumps and two areas for media baskets...(left and right side, return is in the center) All parameters are stable, i have a GFO reactor, tunze 9004 skimmer etc...

Just a week ago i started noticing in my filter chambers and return chambers these small white dots that are no more than 2mm-3mm in length. I have no idea what they are. Can somebody ID these and let me know what they are and if i need to do something about them? They are only in the back of the tank in the return and media basket chambers. I dont see any of this in the main display of the tank

Here is a macro view of the return chamber where the pumps are:

Pineapple sponges. Filterfeeders harmless. May suddenly disappear one day

Star looks like a micro brittle star. Also a good scavenger :)

thanks for the quick feedback... where do these guys normally come from? how are they introduced to the tank?

Probably your live rock I would imagine? Mine just popped up one day out of the blue after the tank had been running for over 6 months. Quite a mystery to me--not exactly sure how the sponge remains dormant. Could always be I suppose a frag plug that brought it in
