View Full Version : What's on my Crab's Head

I got this interesting Decorator Crab with my TBS Live Rock. We call her Granny. Can someone help me identify what she is wearing on her head. It makes for an awesome hat. It is so integrated into her that one would think it is part of her and not an ornament.

Most of the time the "tentacles" are out but they can fold in and retract, leaving a solid cone.

In one photo the crab which I think is Mithrix? is chasing her off his rock.

Hmm, that would be worrisome, but I don't think so. Aiptasia has somewhat of a tube stalk. This is more like an acorn shape when it is closed

They are if you don't mind them ripping anemones off your rock to attach to their shell ;)

Howdy the anemone I believe is called Calliactus tricolor . They put them on themselves and always on there head . They are neat , we get them on the rock pile and they like hanging on stone crab traps for protection
