I am looking for opinions on lighting for a 40 breeder. I am wanting to setup a frag/grow out tank. My 150 gallon tank is hard to get into to place corals so I want to setup a grow out tank to allow them the grow into larger colonies. Then cut the plugs off of them so I have no frag plugs in my display. I was thinking about using 3 kessil a80 tuna blues and 2 t5 bulbs. Does anyone think this will work? Will this be enough light for lps and sps? My main display is a planet aquariums 150 gallon. I am running 3 hydra52 and plan on adding 4 t5 bulbs. Will there be any issues when I move the corals from the grow out tank to the display? I know I can acclimate them to the more intense lighting but I am concerned about the spectrum.

I LOVE the ATI dimmable 6x24 T5 fixture on my 40b and it can/is growing anything..

What about a 4 x 36 ATI those normally sell for cheap on the used market, he would have to build up his post though.

The best light for a 40 breeder would be a 2 x 150 watt Aqua Medic or a Hamilton 2 x 150 Maristar.

40br and 3' tank in general are interesting to light. you will fins alot of LED lighting is for a 12x12 or 24x24 coverage meaning you would need two unites.

some options are:
BML 36" MC lights that is what I was going to run on my 40br then upgraded to a 90...
the nemo light makes 36" light I have 24" over my 20L and I quite like it. there affordable and look great too.

I have been noticing alot of Hydra's in the used section but you will need more post to see the sub forum.

then there is reefbreeders I have there 24" photon V2 over my 90 its doing a great job.
also "black box" from ebay
and dont forget ledzeal...

I think it all comes down to if you want led or t5 or both and howm much control-ability you need and of course budget.

I was also thinking about a ocean revive. Would this be a good option?
