View Full Version : Large Aquarium DIY. Seeking help.

Hey guys/gals,

I am looking to build something huge. I am looking for someone with some experience building large tanks. I might decide to build my own rather than buy/ship a huge one. I might be looking into a plywood build as well depending on if it saves some cash/headaches. Obviously it won't be cheap in any regard but I want to leave it out there as an option.

I want it to be big enough to basically be able to jump in it to place all the rock and stuff.

If anyone has any expertise in the area of glass/acrylic thickness as well as building something this large and doesn't mind me picking their brain I would appreciate it.

plywood may be cheaper. but they are a pain to build. Think there are some calculators for glass/acrylic thickness on the hime page.

Concrete might be your best bet if you can. It will be the cheapest and sturdiest option.

Hmm that is an interesting thought. I might have to look into that.
