Just converted my well established reef to 100g w/ 30g sump, tons of live rock, big skimmer. Using RODI water. Good parameters. Two sponge filters in series.
Putting in 7 aggressive fish. 2-3 inches each now.

1- do I need additional mechanical filtration?

2- do I need chemical filtration?

Can you give us a more detailed stock list? Seems like a lot for a 100g but no way to really know how big these fish are going to get without knowing the species.

Also, why the sponges? Are you using them in place of filter socks to get the big particles?

If your water has particles, add mechanical. If your nitrates get high add chemical.
