I recently bought some Duncan heads from a lfs and they are looking pretty sad. they looked like this when I got them. Is the dark area on the side damage from fragging or the coral's tissue receding. They did eat a ton of mysis shrimp 2 days ago.

No, not aggressive at all.

The white looks weird like tissue missing. The Duncan "stalk" should be all brown covered in delicate tissue. Mine fell over and got scratched up one time but it didn't die. Yours look okay I guess!

The spot on the stalk of the left polyp is recession or a fragging spot. Keep an eye on it to make sure it does not spread. It can regrow that area

The remaining flesh looks okay to me, anything from brown to green is normal. What do they look like now?

they look okay now and the open spot seems to be closing up slowly. good to know they are not aggressive

That is good news! I love my Duncan. They are fun to feed.

Hey guys I was wondering what you guys would suggest what to do to my Duncan I've had him for about two months and I noticed this white ring around his base and tissue seems to be receding but he opens up very well still

I would say that as long as it is still eating, you're ok - I've had my Duncan's for about a year now, and the stalk was initially discolored but has since come back to be a nice healthy green. I would say stick with it. Also, they seem to like relatively low flow areas.

Good luck!

I've never fed my duncans and my colony is bigger than a football, this is also right underneath a mp40 so flow is probably stronger than most would even consider, I would say it being a larger colony helps.

Those are awesome. I bought my first Duncan about 3 weeks ago. Hopefully they grow like that!
