Looking nice is that crushed coral or black sand?

Stocking no idea yet.:bounce1: The filter is the one that had come with the tank and is called a picotope. I will replace it with in a month or 2 once I start adding more life to the tank. For right now I am also using the stock lighting but will upgrade to this http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/za1201-t-aqua-system-pico-led-light-zetlight.html in a month or so.

So no idea what the issue is but after day one the red zoas have not opened at all and the blue zoas only 2 have been opening and the green ones under the blue ones have not open at all. temp 78.5/salinity low 1.23-1.25 high from evap at night. no3 and po3 at 0 I have not worry about testing calc mag and alk as it was just set up a week ago. The live rock was some rock that has cured and cycled well. As far as flow I have try moving the power head to different places and even turning it off with no luck. keep in mind they where happy for the 2h after I had put them in the tank and then after lights out that night only 2 zoas open now.

05/11/2017, 08:20 PM
Also the snails and crabs are still doing fine.

Is the mp10 too much current for the 3 gallon. I currently have 3 gallon deluxe form jbj and I want to add mp10 but afraid might be too much for the 5 flower anemones and two acans.

So I think I was killing off one off a coral with the LED lighting this is my first time using it and from my understanding the light is more focused then with T5 or MH so the flesh on one of my corals started to pull back on all the tips.

I just ordered one of these tanks! My plan was to keep the stock light/filter and just do softies. GSP, Clove Polyps, maybe a Ricordia and some Zoas. Seems like dosing in a tank this size would turn into a nightmare.

Are you running any ATO or just hand top off?

Hand top off it only needs a little each day. 1gal of ro water lasts me about 10-12 days. I don't think I will ever really need to do dosing as its very simple to do a 1.5gal water change once a week. If I was to start dosing I think a Kalkwasser drip would be all you need. I gave up on the stock filter as its just to little I think with a bigger HOB you would not even need a powerhead. The light that comes on it I think would work just fine for any soft coral

Also I have the led light set at 75% and pulled up to the front. I can now see why the corals did not like the light at first.

Have you needed to start dosing yet? How often are you doing water changes?

I got mine all set up. I'll start a thread on it soon. I now understand about the stock filter, upgraded to an AquaClear 20 already!

Water changes once a week 2ish gal of water and no need to dose yet as of right now my cal and alk only fall by about 25 points from what they start off with.

First of all, fix your Photobucket pictures!
Second your changing too many things at once...
Second of all I'd stick with smaller water changes, back off adding chems/kalk or anything !

Third, get your setup running the way you intend it to!

Watch out for Clean up Crew bumping and closing polyps!

Never do more than back to back 1/2 changes on your nano! And since not filled with fish and coral is more focus never do more than back to back 1/4 changes!

Once corals opening up during natural lighting hours, stop rethink your past mistakes!
Relax and then only do 10-15% weekly water changes!

Wait week for nitrates and ammonia and pH testing from LFS..

Photobucket blocked all 3rd party pic's now and wants you to pay a crazy amount of money for it. :(
