Depends what type of shark if it's a black tip you could keep these fish and they would be cool in the tank
Map puffer (they get 4 feet long and are the biggest puffer)
Any big eel Dragon/Green morays would be cool
Another shark (If the over shark is a bottom dweller you can't have the puffer)
Big tangs
A Large grouper like a bumble bee

If it's a bottom dweller you could have the same tank mates except you can't have the puffer

Fish from the jack family and sometimes snappers are most commonly used as filler fish. Lookdowns as a staple of the typical mixed setup. With a ray, nothing that picks, angles, butterflies, puffers, etc. You need something that swallows it's food whole. Shark eyes are a favorite food of puffers and triggers

Depends what you are looking for. I rec LFS for banded carpets, coral cats and gray carpets. If you want something a little more exotic pm me. Liveaquaria divers den frequently has stuff too.

Also could I just get some sort of porkupine puffer rather than the map, Because he is way too big for what I want. And Can I have a triggerfish, angelfish, and wrasses (fish only) for the shark?

alprazo
05/13/2017, 08:22 AM
No, no, no and probably not. Wrasses usually end up as food

Mr. Eel
05/13/2017, 09:42 AM
will a ray eat those fish I listed above?

Also do u mean you sell sharks or just pm you where to buy?

Well puffers will only work with sharks that swim around and black tips are the smallest of them and they get bigger than a map puffer so it all depends on the shark you have in mind we need to know the species before we can tell you tank mates

A 400 gal is way too small for a black tip.
All but the wrasse could kill your ray.

337 to be exact 6' by 2.5' by 3' bottom surface being 6' by 3'. They ray in mind would be cortez. The shark bamboo cat or other depending on what my research shows. I think I might want to go shark because they are hardier than rays and insaley awesome. 337 big enough for any sharks?

Big enough for the shark you want I would say tank mates big eels and groupers if you want to go predator tank if not just some smaller fish like tangs that can survive with sharks

Why would the pufffer be a problem? I could see why the shark would eat the trigger, but puffer has defence and spines. Also what about a stars and stripes or reticulated puffer.

oh i missed that. What about the map puffer finn cole mentioned earlier will that one not eat eyes? Also would a lionfish work with the shark?

The puffer and trigger would attack the shark the shark would not harm the puffer

The only shark a map puffer could work with is a black tip and maybe a white tip but they get way to big for your tank a map puffer would not work with the shark you want they get 4 feet long

ok so far I have 1 shark 4 convicts a lionfish a bird wrasse an angelfish and a zebra moray eel.

That sounds pretty good for a start so questions:

Will the angel and the wrasse become food or is that just if the shark is very large?
Is it possible that I could get a pair of sharks because breeding would be awesome.

would it positivley eat a wrasse and angelfish or there is a chance if the shark is small?

Mr. Eel
05/13/2017, 08:43 PM
which fish are the jack family?

alprazo
05/13/2017, 08:49 PM
Fish that graze will pick and bite at your shark causing injury and possible infection.

Lookdowns, pompano are good options for a tank that size

Mr. Eel
05/13/2017, 08:54 PM
Neither of those fish are very appealing, both very bland and grey.
Would dwarf angels be ok or still pick at its eyes? And will 2 sharks get along or fight?

Discussing telost tankmates is like saying " what angel can I put in my reef? ". Some individuals will be fine, others of the same species will not. There is no simple answer. Even the safest fish can out compete your sharks for food. The best answer is to put your fish in another tank.[/QUOTE]

That is from the shark primer thread. I personally do not put fish with my sharks anymore

Mr. Eel
05/13/2017, 09:03 PM
ok how about 2 of em together?

alprazo

Yes, they do very well in pairs, trios, etc...

Mr. Eel
05/13/2017, 09:07 PM
Ok so how does this sound, 2 sharks a ray 2 lions, and 4 clowns ( or is that too much bio for 337 with all filtration except for uv sterilizer

alprazo
05/13/2017, 09:10 PM
The lions will probably eat your clowns before the sharks, but that is much better stock list. Gray carpets would be a good option for you.

Mr. Eel
05/13/2017, 09:14 PM
could I get colorfull carpets like greens ( which are far cheaper than reds or blues )

Mr. Eel
05/13/2017, 09:41 PM
Also what kinds of sharks do you suggest for this stock list and this size tank? The ray will be cortez.

Try a maroon Clown the bottom dwelling sharks are very peaceful it's just other other fish pick on them a maroon clown can't eaten by the lion also the think with puffers, triggers and angels picking at the sharks eyes is not guaranteed I have seen some with sharks just fine but it does not always work out well. puffers triggers and angels are very intelligent fish and everything comes down to personality but I would say a trigger would be more likely to attack than a Angel of a puffer for a puffer I would recommend a dogface but remember it all comes down to how the fish acts it could be peaceful or sociopath murderer

I have never kept them but I know these fish very well my current tank is not big enough for these fish however i will be getting a larger tank soon. I have done lots or research and I plan to keep some of these fish in my new tank I have been researching these fish for years and years and now I am finally getting them

Good to know thanks. Sometimes not a problem hearing from people who've done research, but I tend to put more weight behind people speaking from experience, not just repeating what they've read no offense.

337 to be exact 6' by 2.5' by 3' bottom surface being 6' by 3'.

The sharks would be 2 bamboo marbled and 2 black banded cats.
