Drained the 265 and its getting rebooted, and moved to a different room. The corner overflows are coming out, and going with a reef savvy ghost overflow. The cross braces have always bothered me and made lighting a pain. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to redo the cross braces or go with glass cross braces like the older euro style tanks. The other thing I noticed scrubbing the glass was the edges of the silicone in the corners is loose and starting to lift up, Never had any leaks or anything, just wondering if there is anything I should do about this, lay a bead over the older stuff or just trim it, or leave it alone.

Marineland 265? I have one, and have always been a bit concerned that the glass is on the thin side for the span, so you definately have to have the cross braces. You could certainly go with a eurobrace, but I'd leave the corner silicone alone.

Do you have experience working with glass and silicone?

Can we get a photo of the tank as it sits now? And a close up of the damaged silicone?

Dont have crazy amounts of experience with glass, I have drilled another 265 and some smaller tanks, and I have re-sealed a 300DD. I will get some pics of the tank and the silicone tonight when I get home from work

The silicone between the glass is what seals the tank. If you decide to replace the internal bead for aesthetic reasons, just don't damage that structural seal.
