Has anyone ever tried using a company like squaretrade to purchase an extended warranty for equipment?

Thanks

Almost always, second party warranties are very expensive and usually not a good value.
Its very high priced insurance. This goes for the computer biz as well. Big profit center.

square trade warranties are typically reasonable

you can get a 4 year extended warranty on a $3000 tv for $350

Thats still very expensive. Generally, if a tv works for 5 days, it will work for 5 yrs.

Up to you of course, but I know these second party warranties are very profitable for those who sell them.
