Hi there. My favoured colour for acro is solid blue and the most common species available in this colour here in Australia is Tenius. My problem is that I cannot for the life of me keep it alive. The main problem has been tips burning. This happens no matter whether the piece is placed near the bottom or top of the tank Why is it that this coral is affected but none of the others. Alk is at 8, No3 is at 15, Phosphate is at .03. Lighting is a Maxpect Razor.

Tenius is not a easy coral for many reefers, so I am sure you are not alone.

Interesting to me is I have better success rate on Austria wild caught Tenius than Indonesia marine culture frags. I don't know why but that is what happen to me. Tennis is more sensitive to alkalinity fluctuations and need adequate food source during adapting period to a new tank, but once it adapt, it seems grow quite well.

Here is one of my Indonesia Tenius frag "before" and "after"

I have always had bad luck with the blue Aussie tenuis as well. Others do ok but not that specific one. I have a Bali multicolored tenuis that's been ok for a while but it won't grow much. At least I can keep it alive. I thought I was having trouble with the blue ones because they maybe didn't ship well but if your in Australia and have issues maybe it's something to do with our tanks that it needs. Honestly I don't see to many grown out Aussie blue tenuis colonies. If anyone has one show a pic and tell us why you think it is doing well.
