Growing soft-corals with 250W MH 28" above my display?

I'm building a new tank it will be mainly soft-corals.

Wondering if they would grow underneith a 250W MH that is 28" above the waterline?

The tank will be pretty shallow 16" high.

Yes. If you look at many of the coral farms/fish stores, they have their lights high above the water line.

In my opinion, you will be fine.

I have an inexpensive Chinese balck box led at 24" above my frag tank and even sps do well. Now my frag tank is only 10" deep, but I would think 250w MH will work OK over 24" of water at 24" high.
