Hello, i could use a little help here please reefers.
I was useing kalkwasser in my auto top off for a while to raise my ph.
I now have a dosing pump. I measured the dkh in my rodi and salt mix and it was 9.9 dkh. so i dose 35ml per day to keep close to that number between water changes 20% every 2 weeks. In doing that my ph has risen to 8.4-8.7 just before the lights go out then it swings back down at night. This is a little high i fear. Any suggestions ?

Is your probe freshly calibrated? What is your Alk?

add vinegar to your kalkwasser.

Are you seeing precipitation? If not, then I wouldn't worry about too high pH.

A little seltzer water. 6ml per gallon drops pH by 0.3 It adds CO2; vinegar does too but also adds organic carbon.

if your windows are open, close them.

Muratic acid. Seltzer water.

Vinegar will add organic carbon to the tank... not good unless you are ready for this.

Bottom line is that you are going to need to find something else to supplement your calcium and alk. Try two part and way less kalkwasser.

I would avoid dosing muriatic acid. It will drop the alkalinity and can be overdosed too easily. I'd just wait or add some seltzer water. The pH will drop with aeration.
