Has anyone tried putting a new outdoor nest cam in their reef ? Seems like it might hold up, just barely submerged, thoughts?

Asking for trouble. It's water resistant not water proof.

IMHO You're a lot better off getting a wide-angle lens camera that mounts flush to the glass on the outside.

The outdoor unit while "weatherproof" is only IP65 rated which does NOT make it suitable for being put underwater.. It is NOT submersible.
IT can take rain.. Not be underwater..

And unlike some POE cameras (again, only IP65 rated), the nest cam operates over 110V power, so very, very bad for tank inhabitants and aquarist.

Put it on a tripod and out in front of tank if you need to monitor while away.

David

There are very few cameras that can go into the tank, even fewer that are IP style. I spent days looking for one to go in a pond. Unless you are willing to spend $2000+ you will be very limited on options and what they are capable of. Easiest solution is the IceCap Reefcam. I hear quality isn't great however.

Have you seen anything like this personally? I'd be interested in seeing what you're talking about.

I tried the ice cap reef cam the quality is absolutely terrible. Looking for something more hd, I'll wait for someone to figure it out...
