View Full Version : Long nose butterfly

I've had a long nose butterfly in quarantine for almost three weeks now. Up until yesterday it seem to be eating ok but I've never kept a butterfly before so my experience is low in feeding one. I've been feeding it frozen Marine Cuisine. Is this the wrong food? Is there something better suited for this fish that is common in fish stores? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170629/5709bad02e179f31180c036865fc3027.jpg

Is it not eating well now? I like clams on the half shell for my butterflies, I typically buy littlenecks from the grocery and freeze them. They are a good supplement to the normal diet.

These guys are specialized in picking worms and other small critters out of crevices. Worms like California blackworms would likely be ideal with mysis a close second.
Since having a long snout deep in a crevice is risky on the reef you find them generally in pairs with one eating while the other keeps watch and looks out for predators.

Mine is thriving on a combination of Marine Cuisine, Angel and Butterfly, and Mysis cubes.
