Hey guys ,
I clean out my skimmer Royal Alpha 200 BK vertex 1500 pump and put it back together and installed it back into sump it working fine. yesterday i noticed it stop working. I took it out and inspected the impeller its intact.
Question on the end of the impeller I'm i missing the Rubber cap ? Dont remember if it had one.

If you look into the block, at the very bottom you can see a bearing that is held in place by an o-ring. That supports the bottom of the impeller shaft and keeps it centered. There is no rubber cap on these shafts. Your impeller does look fine and provided the magnet is firmly attached to the impeller shaft, you can rule out an issue with the impeller. An important part of properly cleaning the pump is removing the bearing and cleaning it too. If calcium or debris build up in there, it can cause friction on the impeller shaft and overload the motor block.

I would take the pump apart and soak everything in household vinegar for 10 minutes. Then scrub, rinse and reassemble. Take a look at the 3rd paragraph of post 1 and also look at post 2 of this thread. It covers the bearing. A piece of half inch PVC can be a useful tool in seating the bearing back into the motorblock.

If a deep cleaning (included bearing removal, cleaning and reinstall) doesn't solve the issue, than your block is likely toast. This would be the correct replacement block.

I would try removing the bearing and cleaning in vinegar as mentioned above. It won't take a long soak. Scrub everything well. Then put it back together making sure to put the bearing back in properly. There is a little slot that the bearing o-ring sits into the center it in the bearing cavity.

That said, chances are you will need a new block but with a bit of luck, the deep cleaning will solve the issue.

While I do think that bearing should be replaced, I don't think that is the issue. I think you are going to need a new block. The o-ring is included with the new bearing and not sold separately. In looking at the picture, it looks like the lip is missing from the permiter of the bearing. I wonder if the bearing seized/stuck to the shaft at one point and was spinning in the block. That causes excess load on the block and will cause it to overheat and fail.

Here is the link to the new bearing. When installing the bearing, it helps to wet the inside of the motor block to help the bearing slip into place.

The o-ring is not sold separately. It's included with the new bearing in the link I posted above but here is the link to the bearing with the o-ring.
