CAn you use Tetra ultra activated carbon in a reef tank reactor? It has very small grains.

As long as it stays contained, the small grains give more surface area. I use it in mine that has a foam filter surrounding it.

So you can use any carbon that's sold for freshwater in saltwater? It works exactly the same in both systems?

Yes, it's carbon.

Cheap carbon is sometimes made from burnt coconut shells and is high in po4.

That doesn't matter right? What's the difference from "cheap" and high quality carbon?

The only time that I have ever seen carbon that would actually release noticeable amounts of PO4 was made to filter air, not water.

The tetra stuff should be fine.

Good Good! Going to put it in a reactor, should I worry about it grinding itself up?

Don't let it tumble. It needs to be in there tight so that the water passes through it instead of around it.

It matters if you're battling high phosphates

So say I had it with GFO two little fishies reactor, the GFO needs to tumble but the Carbon should not?

Exactly

I use Kent Marine reef carbon when I run carbon. It claims to not leach phosphates.
