That looks like a pest sponge. I have them around the tanks especially in the overflow box. But mine are small though, about 1/4"

Looks like a pineapple sponge, which isn't a pest. If anything, they're free filtration.

Or leave it where it is? Exposing it to air when moving it could kill it.
