View Full Version : Dosing Alk rises Ca is that normal?

Hello guys . Im new guy with all this dosing stuff so just a quick question .. by rising alk is it normal that it rises ca too or my test kit is showing faulty readings ?

My alk was 4.5dk started to rise it slowly not its arround 6.7-6.9 but my ca have rised from
380-410 ..

What did you dose? Carbonate won't raise calcium; calcium hydroxide( kalk) will.

Just baked some baking soda and mixed with ro water ..

380-410 is too small to count as an increase given the accuracy of most tests.

I agree that 380 ppm and 410 ppm are very close for hobbyist test kits. I also agree that we need to know what was added.

I think it was test kit fault .. didn't know that it can measure different every time :)

Yep, remember these are really "hobby" grade kits, prone to small accuracy errors as well as user errors in running them. You're looking for trends over time mostly, not 1 off readings. If I get, 380, 410 and 400 over a week or, I call it even. If I get 380 then 300..somethings not right and I'd run it again.
