Best accumulation from SG 1.021 to 1.026?

I bought some clownfish from a breeder that keeps his SG at 1.021 and my sustem is at 1.026. How long should I drip accumulate them? Or is there a better way?

I followed one of the suggestions here on the site and tested the SG of the bag water while I floated them to match temps. It turns out that the SG was way high (1.031) and I had to mix up some strong salt mix to add to my normal SW to get them to match. I'll spend the next 5-7 days bringing the SG down to 1.026 to match my DT before moving them over.

Fish can go from 1.031 to 1.026 without any acclimatization (I've brought whole tanks with fish and corals down from that to nominal without losing anything). Going down in salinity fast is never an issue with fish and even many inverts (some shrimp may not tolerate it well). Many of our animals experience that scenario quite often in the wild when trapped in a tide pool. It is also a common occurrence at several atolls that are at times cut off from the ocean.

I've actually put fish from 1.026 straight into hyposalinity at 1.009 and they handled it just fine.

The slow acclimatization has to be done when bringing fish back up from around 1.009. until you reach 1.016. This is to allow the fish's kidneys to slowly adapt to pumping salt out again. From 1.016 to 1.026 a drip acclimatization over an hour is usually enough.

In the range from 1.020 to 1.030 you really don't need do any salinity acclimatization for fish. If you want to play it safe do drip acclimatization.

Thanks man. I think ill play it safe since these are our first fish and lower it over the course of the day and transfer them to the DT once the lights go our on it tonight.
