As the title states, do you guys turn off your carx when the return pump is off?

Nope. Runs 24/7 365 except when changing out media and/or CO2

I turn the feed pump off. Recirculation pump and CO2 stays on. This is for short period only.

If the pump is turned off, the organics in the water will start to decay anaerobically in fairly short order. That process can produce toxic byproducts, like hydrogen sulfide.

Let me ask again. I was referring to turning off the carx when the return pump is off for lets say maintenance of the sump or water changes. Do you guys turn it off so the carx isn't constantly feeding the tank with ca/alk thus possibly spiking the levels when the return pump is turned back on?

I may just do what Vincent said and turn off the feed pump instead of the entire reactor.

I keep it running. I notice sometimes if I turn it off it might get clog due to calcium build up.

Short periods without flow should be safe. I am not sure that the reactor could change the alkalinity much during a brief outage, though.

Your CaRx requires constant running just to keep up (hopefully). A few minutes or even an hour will not do much to change anything.

Thanks for the info fellas. I'm new to carx.
