I'd like feedback tips and just general comments on how I have setup the lighting. I have a shelf for some decoration. The lighting looks weird with my phone tons of blues came through so I had to dial them way back to get the picture. I know it's dirty haha. Sand settling. Just finally got the lights on and the rock almost positioned how I want. She's almost ready for fish I have hopefully only another 2 weeks or so. http://www.flickr.com/photos/60444850@N05/35848463643/in/dateposted-public/

You could zip tie some of your cables to get a cleaner look

I thought I put that in the top. They are going to be cleaned up majorly just slapped them up there to see the coverage and the spacing for the shelf I just put up.

Nice.

See those empty spaces in between the rocks on the right though? (caves/overhangs) Seeing this/that throughout the rock structure 'might" be better. (for circulation purposes)

I've thought about doing that. The right side is the side I'm set on liking. Other than moving around a small rock or two to give it a more natural look. The left is where I'm wanting to do the improvements. This is my first attempt you won't hurt my feelings being honest and giving advice and changes haha. I'm no artist by any means

I hate your light hanger... LOL. Your next upgrade should be the hanger, the rest looks awesome.

What is it that is displeasing about it. It's just a basic shelf. There will be decorations on top of it.

Just kidding buddy. I like simplicity as well. As long as it works, looks good, who cares!. Make sure you put up some nice vodka bottles up there. A couple of dried up chocolate chip star fishes are great. I can get a big conch shell as well at the sunday market if you want. Just pay for the shipping cost :D

Haha you didn't offend. I'm just polishing off the final details while the cycle finishes. Working at it bit by bit so I don't get antsy haha. No more ammonia now just those pesky nitrites.

Your tank is off to a good start.

very white so far...
so I'm wondering about your 2 weeks to go? You have been feeding or dosing ammonia?

I dosed with ammonia twice and the ammonia is being filtered out very well. Just maintaining it every couple of days now to keep the bacteria fed. Waiting for those nitrites to fall off. Ammonia levels are at 0.25-0.5 in a day after dosing to 4ppm. Only keeping it at 1-2ppm now though. Dosed to 4ppm 3 times to jump start the system.

I would paint the back glass, and I like the rock work.

I've thought about doing this but not ready to dive into that yet. Maybe I'll start by putting up a black backdrop on the back and go from there. I think it would help the overflows and everything blend in more seamlessly. As well as not seeing he wires haha

I would paint it with a small roller.

Lol. Yeah I agree, the hanger have got to go. I hope those are only temporary. At the very least hide the hide the wires a bit more for a cleaner look. The tank looks amazing. Can't wait to see how it develops.

The hanger is a shelf haha I said I haven't cleaned up the wires yet. It's a shelf. But I guess I should clarify it's in a business with 12 foot ceilings and a shelf with decor is pretty normal in a business.

Great start!

I'd second finding a way to paint the back black. Another option, if you can find black tack paper (something like chalkboard tack paper) and apply it carefully to avoid air bubbles, you could avoid painting, and it'd still be removable.

The only thing I'd personally add to the rockwork would be a rock arch, I see some opportunities on the left side for one ;)

Tank looks like its off to a good start! Another option for the back glass (If you don't want to paint it) is dark window film from Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Just measure/cut to size and squeegee it on (Also comes off easy should you ever need to remove it.)

I like this idea as well. Just going to enjoy it as is for now. Almost ready for fish. Nitrites are finally starting to not be off the charts and ammonia finally dropped off to completely zero and nitrates are spiking off the chart. Should only be another week or so. The final phase of the cycle is in motion

If you live close to me, I will give you some frags. Got some lying on the sand bed :(
