I moved recently, and had to remove all the plumbing to get the tank out of the house.

It's been several years since I plumbed the tank and now I can't remember what bulkhead size I used.

I definitely used 1.5" PVC for the drains. I still have some of the pipes.

I looked over some of my orders from BRS and it looks like I bought 1" ABS bulkheads. It also looks like the drilled holes are 46mm which again indicates it's 1" ABS bulkhead.

But how does my 1.5" PVC pipes work with a 1" abs bulkhead?

If all of your bulkhead holes are 45 mm then u are correct they are for 1" bulkheads. In most cases u are better off just using 1" plumbing but in some instances upsizing the plumbing to 1.5" is the better option. Without knowing more it's hard to say which would be best in your scenario.

But to answer your question, u would eighther use a 1" to 1.5" bushing or a 1" to 1.5" reducing coupling

Yep you likely just used an adapter at some point to upsize to 1.5 or downsize to 1" ..
