So I'm looking at an auto water change system for the new build.

It can drain and than refill or simultaneous drain and refill which I think would work better to not make the ato mess things up.

I was thinking either change 1L (0.26g) every 2 hours making weekly 84L (22g) making 6% water change per week or 1L every hour making 168L (44g) making 12% water change per week.

My questions doing continuous water change do you think you can get away with less than conventional water change being constant and not waiting till the water really needs to be changed.

Second question, who has an automated water change and do you see a difference in tank quality doing continuous water change compared to doing standard say fortnightly or monthly water changes?

These changes are slightly less efficient than single batch water changes of the same total volume. A continuous water change of 30% exactly matches one batch 26% water change. As with very small batch water changes, these have the advantage of neither stressing the organisms (assuming the change is done reasonably slowly), nor altering the water level in the aquarium.
