I'm just received my seneye light meter.Im trying to figure out my par reading but numbers are jumping all over the place.Wondering if unit is broken.Any help would be appreciated

I use the Apogee PAR meter and it does the same thing.

The sensor is very sensitive to any change in distance from the light source. Even more important is any tipping of the sensor away from or towards the light source. The more stable you can hold it, the less the reading will jump around. Then the best you can do it see what numbers come up the most.

Example: the range is from 200 to 230 and the teens and low 20's are seen often. Then you have a PAR of 215 to 220.

If you can press the sensor against a rock or anything solid and hold it steady you can get very fixed PAR readings.

Shut the return pump off to reduce/eliminate surface agitation. The ripples on the waters surface will cause the readings to jump all over the place. Also as noted above, hold the sensor stear or mount it to a rod or something that makes it easier hold it in place.
