View Full Version : Biocube 29 Leak?

Hi Guys,

I did a water change and cleaning on my Biocube 29 yesterday morning. Then I wiped down the outside of the tank very well and made sure everything was dry, cleaned the glass and all.

This morning I noticed this salt creep on the right side of the tank (right side when looking at it from the front) towards the back. There were no streaks of water from the top so it doesn't seem like water sloshed over the top and between the tank lid. Just this salt creep.

I was wondering, are the Biocubes weak along the bottom? I'm not sure if this is a leak or just salt creep from water that may have spilled earlier (perhaps during the water change) that then got stuck in between the plastic edge and the glass.

The tank itself isn't particularly old. I bought it new and it's been up and running since July 2015.

I just installed the Steve's LED retrofit into the lid like last week too. I'm really hoping this isn't a leak.

Thoughts anyone?

I had a nano cube that started to leak at the bottom back of the tank. Kept thinking I just spilled water but it got worse until there was a puddle on the floor. Never did find out exactly where it was leaking as it must have been a pinhole leak. I wasn't too interested in finding out anyways as I didn't want to risk the bottom panel bursting so I just threw it out. Good luck with yours

Wipe it up.. see how it goes..
Often its just water that got down under the trim,etc... (due to you spilling it there) and will take a bit to go away.

Just monitor it and adapt as needed..

The other odd thing was that the salt was wet...

Sounds good. I wiped it up and will wait and see how it goes. Crossing my fingers..

If you can, it doesn't hurt to carefully wedge a piece of paper towel into the space between the trim and tank to help soak up any spillage as well.

Update: After cleaning off the salt creep it didn't come back and there is no other evidence of leaking. Thanks for the help everyone.
