I have been out of the reef game for 5 years. I had this tank set up as an SPS heavy system before I took it down for a move.

I have been having the itch and finally decided to set it up again. This time space is more of a concern as is energy consumption.

I had a fish room that the display was plumbed to that allowed for frag tanks, reactors, large sumps, etc. This time everything will be under the stand.

First step was building a new stand to accommodate a sump.

I chose to make the front entirely removable for easy access. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170920/6499e206b85ebab21659c51d31608b19.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170920/e1d7143d3a80a610ba08d994edf4228c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170920/7e5a55418c299743034a2e040a75458c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170920/cb9d14e0baa904aeaab1c2a6b0004b5d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170920/cc6d34012f029b1e3e8161392065acad.jpg

Next step was to decide on equipment.

I have been excited about the development of LED lighting. Previously I was running Phoenix 14K MH but did not want to deal with the energy bill or heat. I decided to go with the Radion XR30W Pro this time around.

In the past I had used Tunze for flow but liked the new QD feature of the Vortech and decided on the MP40.

For my return I went with a Skimz QP 4.0. The low wattage, controlability, and silence were a big draw. Silence is a major factor since everything is under the tank now.

I will be using my old Octo X skimmer with a new bubble blaster HY3000 that I got a good deal on. My sump is a 29.

Not sure if I will be setting up my calcium reactor or not. Only time will tell. I would like to keep this build simple.

Thanks! I have been thinking nice LPS and not messing with SPS. My last tank was primarily SPS and had all the bells and whistles. I though I would keep this more simple.

But....I have already been browsing my favorite SPS. We will see how long simple lasts.

Sump and wiring complete. Aquascape done. Water tests look good. Coral and a fish or two soon.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170926/825e243ecb7f532bd407a77e64bea0f1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170926/6da1cf6a1f5e1eb51310eaed636acb8c.jpg
