Hey guys, I was cleaning my jebao RW8s last night and found that the wiring cover has been eroded away right above the powerhead. It's the black rubber wire cover that surrounds the smaller wires inside. The wires inside appear to be fine so no actual wiring is coming in contact with the water. My concern though is that now that water can get under that wire sheath, I don't know if it could work it's way into where the wiring connects to the motor. I don't want to send electrical current into the tank and I also don't want to throw out a good working powerhead if indeed it's still okay.

Can you get it fairly clean and dry and apply some aquarium safe silicone to keep water out?

Its best to scrap.
Once its been compromised water will wick up inside the outer jacket and can cause problems over time..

The replacement cost is cheap compared to the potential losses should a problem ever develop..

You should consider the possibility of forgetting that pump.
When water electrical isolation is compromised the risk is always to high.
If it's under warranty I would ask for a replacement if not I would throw it away.
