Thought I would share. I am planning another big aquarium and I will build all of my equipment. I used to build all of my own acrylic parts and pieces and the one thing I could never make was twist lock flanges. I have a cnc router now and I was finally able to make a useable twist lock flange. This flange is for 4 inch tubing and made from 1/4 acrylic.

Looks good..

Isn't it fun to have your own CNC machine?
I can't live without mine..

Thanks guys.

Tank size-is still to be determined. My wife and I plan on moving next spring. I will do something in the 500+ gallon range.

I have decided I want to build a skimmer that will have an 18 inch body and it will be 10 inches at the top of the cone. I had to scale up my original drawing to make it work with a 10 inch tube. I got to looking at the first flange I made up and it seemed like it was going to be too flimsy to make much bigger so I made up one out of 1/2 inch acrylic. Here is the end result. I was going to have a lot of scrap material so I cut one for a 6 inch tube too out of the center scrap pieces.

I made a couple of changes including making it with 4 locking tabs instead of 3. I am very happy with the fit of all the pieces and with it being 1/2 inch material, it seems very strong.
