Hello - I have an outbreak in my display tank of a nasty algae. Can someone confirm it's Caulerpa racemosa?

Nothing has been introduced to the tank in over a year then this pops up. Reef tanks are amazing ecosystems!

My magnificent lo wants nothing to do with it. Might pick up a yellow tang if it eats it but that's ninety days out from when I quarantine it. This stuff grows fast.

looks like.

I wouldn't count on a tang to keep it in check.

I'd be more apt to take out the offending rock.

Thanks all - working on it. Might be too late to effectively remove it all. We shall see...

toothbrush off the algae, dip that area of the offending rock for 30 seconds in drugstore hydrogen peroxide, rinse thoroughly before putting it back in your reef. If it regrows, repeat the process.

Will give that a go - Sounds like you've been there. Appreciate it!
